Benapole port, a key trade hub in Bangladesh, reopened its operations on Monday, resuming both imports and exports after a 9-day closure. The port, located in the southern district of Bhola, had been closed since October 17 to accommodate the Durga Puja festival and the following weekly holiday.

The resumption of trade follows the completion of the holiday period, allowing customs and logistics operations to restart. Officials confirmed that the port is now handling cargo shipments as usual, with both domestic and international vessels docking for loading and unloading.

This closure had disrupted the flow of goods, affecting local businesses and traders reliant on the port for their supply chain. The reopening marks a return to normalcy for the region’s trade activities, which are vital to the local economy.

Benapole port has long been a strategic point for Bangladesh’s maritime trade, connecting the country with India and other neighboring regions. The temporary halt highlighted the challenges of balancing cultural observances with economic continuity.

The government has emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth trade operations, especially during peak seasons. With the port back in action, the focus now shifts to ensuring efficient and uninterrupted trade flows in the coming weeks.
